The following was recorded in a back room in one of the country’s finest live music venues, an hour or so after Forward Russia had played their first gig in five years. Despite being welcomed with open arms by the Brudenell’s proprietor and all others around me, I was hammered, and do show myself up over the course of the evening by shouting at various members of This Et Al ‘why’d you split up, you bellends?’. Don’t be me.

Fortunately I’m flanked by a pro, six-stringer James Brown of Leeds brethren Pulled Apart By Horses. He relishes the opportunity to talk to someone who has been so influential within the city for almost a decade, and embraces the situation with the necessary aplomb. I’m more grateful for this than perhaps he’ll ever truly know.

Now hear this:

Forward Russia’s set at Leeds’ Brudenell Social Club on 31st November 2013 is available to purchase through Bandcamp. Show them the love they’ve given you over the years.
